Review: Pieces by Arrow Video
The Lowdown:
Kid gets busted by his mom playing with a nudie puzzle and gets scolded. Little boy hacks up mommy. 40 years later a killer is on a college campus hacking up girls with a chainsaw trying to complete his own jigsaw puzzle.

My thoughts:
I had no idea what I was getting myself into other than it looked like an average 80's slasher. Well, upon viewing I was a little conflicted as to whether I was watching a slasher or a giallo. There is plenty of gore to go around but the atmosphere, music and tone screamed giallo. The killer remains cloaked and we see a lot of POV shots of the killers black gloved hands which to me says giallo. Well this film is neither Italian nor American, it is indeed a Spanish made film dubbed in English. I gotta say though, I wasn't the biggest fan of this. The dialogue is terrible and nonsensical and the acting leaves little to be desired. I will say if you're looking for some solid gore scenes or just something fun to watch with some friends and some adult beverages then there is something to be had here. The print quality and sound were all pretty solid on this release although the dialogue could be a little quieter as it is a tad loud for my liking. While not my favorite slasher, it is worth checking out at least once.
